Facebook How-To: Personalize Your Page URL with a Username

Did you know that once your Facebook Page is connected to 25 people or more, you can personalize your Facebook Page URL (web address)? A personalized URL is easier to remember, more convenient to type into the address bar, and looks more professional. So instead of sending your audience to a URL that looks like this:

You can send them a URL that looks like this:
Facebook Personalized URL Username
Better, yes? And best of all – it can be done if 5 easy steps.

Step 1: The Username Page on Facebook

Visit http://www.facebook.com/usernames. Here, you can set your Facebook Profile username, as well as your Facebook Page username. Your Facebook Profile username will direct users to your Personal Profile, while your Facebook Page username will direct users to your Business Page.
If you have already set a username for your Personal Profile, the screen will look like the image below. Click on the ‘Set a username’ link:

(If you have not yet set your Personal Profile username, the screen will look slightly different. Since this tutorial is on how to set your Page’s username, we will not be going through the steps to setting a Personal Profile username. However, the process is similar.)

Step 2: Select Your Page

Click on the dropdown box next to Page Name and select your Page. If you own multiple Pages, they will all be listed here (as shown below). Click the ‘Check availability’ button.

Step 3: Check for Eligibility

Remember, you must have at 25 people who ‘like’ your Page before selecting a personalized username. If you haven’t quite hit the 25 person mark yet, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

You won’t be able to go any further until have 25 people connected with your page. Set a reminder for yourself to come back to this tutorial when you hit the mark!

Step 4: Check Your Desired Username for Availability

Type your desired username into the text box, and click Check Availability.

Step 5: Confirm Your Selection

If your username is available, you’ll see this pop-up appear:

Be sure to pay attention to the list of things to remember. Most important: You can’t change the name of your Page once you set it. The only way to change a Page name is to delete the whole Page and start all over. Not fun.
Once you’re absolutely certain you’re ready to lock in your Page’s username, click on the ‘Confirm’ button. You now have a personalized URL for your Facebook Page.
Celebrate and share your accomplishment by pasting your new personalized Facebook Page URL in the comments below!
